HATAY - While 90 percent of hotels and hostels are being demolished in Harbiye, one of the favorite neighborhoods of Hatay, citizens are struggling to survive in tents they set up in their gardens and tandoors in order not to leave their homes.
Defne district of Hatay, where great destruction was experienced due to the earthquakes centered in Maraş, was shaken by a new earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 on February 20. The aftershocks of the earthquake, which caused the collapse of many heavily damaged buildings, continue. After the Armutlu Neighborhood, one of the largest neighborhoods in the city, we viewed Harbiye, Hürriyet and Sümerler neighborhoods. The destruction here is less than in Armutlu, but even though the number of houses turned into wrecks is low, the destruction is great.
TANDOORI BECOME HOUSES
Some AFAD tents stand out at Hidor Facilities in the neighborhood. The citizens struggle to survive in the tents and barracks they set up in the gardens of their houses. The number of people living in tents they set up in their vehicles or in the tandoors next to their houses is not small.
