NEWS CENTER - Iraq asked Turkey to remove the obstacles they put on the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.
The Spokesperson of the Iraqi Ministry of Water Resources stated that they wanted Turkey to remove the barriers they put on the water coming to Iraq via the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, and stated that Iraq needs 400 to 500 cubic meters of water per second.
The spokesperson of the Iraqi Ministry of Water Resources, Xalid Şemal, stated that they sent an official letter to Turkey regarding the prevention of water flow to Iraq and said; “Iraq needs 400 cubic meters of water per second from the Tigris River and 500 cubic meters of water from the Euphrates. It was expected that the obstacle put into the water on March 5 would be lifted. If Turkey has left the water, it can reach the southern parts of Iraq in a few days.”
