NEWS CENTER - Making a statement regarding the massacre of 4 people by paramilitary groups in Afrin who wanted to celebrate Newroz, MSD said: "The occupying power and its extensions that occupied Afrin are responsible for this crime."
4 Kurds who wanted to celebrate Newroz on the night of March 20 in Afrin's Cindirêsê district were massacred by paramilitary groups affiliated with Turkey. The Syrian Democratic Council (MSD) made a written statement regarding the massacre.Responding to the silence on the massacre in Cindirêsê, MSD said in its statement: “This crime cannot be separated from occupation, deportation and practices against Kurds. At the same time, this crime has political, security and social dimensions. The occupying power and its extensions occupying Afrin are responsible for this crime. On the other hand, anyone who remains silent against the occupation and sequestration is also responsible for this crime.
MSD made the following call for some measures to be taken
* Afrin should be declared as a demilitarized humanitarian zone and all armed groups should be removed from it. Indigenous people must be safely returned to their lands under the supervision of the international community.
* Those responsible for the massacres and daily violations of rights against humanity must be held accountable.
* The administration and security of the Afrin Region should be handed over to the local people and a fair prosecution system should be established.
* All abducted and detained citizens must be released. The fate of those who were forcibly abducted should be explained, and those who were harmed should be helped.
*The media and international law organizations should be allowed to enter Afrin."
MSD saluted the stance of the libertarian people who condemned the perpetrators of the massacre and said: “May the blacksmith Kawa's torch should be rised in Syria. The victory will be certain with the insistence and solidarity of the honorable Syrians. Newroz will be a symbol of ending the persecution and ensuring freedom and justice.”
