DİYARBAKIR - Diyarbakir 4th High Criminal Court, which accepted the indictment of 18 journalists, 15 of whom were imprisoned in Amed(Diyarbakır), decided to continue the arrest of journalists in its file analysis.
16 journalists were arrested, 20 of whom were detained on June 8, out of 22 journalists in the Amed-based operation. After 10 months, an indictment was prepared against 18 journalists, 15 of whom were imprisoned, with a prison sentence of 7 years, 6 months and 15 years on charges of "being a member of a terrorist organization". Diyarbakır 4th High Criminal Court accepted the indictment prepared by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and set a date for the first hearing on July 11.
The arrest of journalists, who are Abdurrahman Öncü, Aziz Oruç, Elif Üngür, İbrahim Koyuncu, Lezgin Akdeniz, Mazlum Güler, Mehmet Şahin, Mehmet Ali Ertaş, Neşe Toprak, Ömer Çelik, Ramazan Geçiken, Remziye Temel, Serdar Altan, Suat Doğuhan and Zeynel Abidin Bulut, decided to continue in the examination of the case file to the Diyarbakır 4th High Criminal Court, which accepted the indictment of the journalists.
The court decided that the judicial control measure would be insufficient, stating that the existence of a strong suspicion of crime, concrete evidence, the accusation being one of the catalog charges, considering the nature and nature of the crime charged against the 15 journalists, the state of evidence, the time they spent in detention, the lower and upper limits of the prescribed sentence, and the scope of the entire file.
