ISTANBUL- Green Left Party Kocaeli MP candidate Ayten Dönmez, who was detained after Süleyman Soylu's targeting, was arrested.
Police raided the house of the Greens and Left Future Party (Green Left Party) Kocaeli MP candidate Ayten Dönmez in Üsküdar after Süleyman Soylu, Minister of Interior and AKP Istanbul MP candidate, targeted the Green Left Party and its candidates in a TV program he attended last night. The pro-government media also targeted Dönmez.
It was alleged that Dönmez had previously joined the PKK and came back. A photograph of two PKK members was shown to Dönmez regarding this allegation at the police station. Dönmez denied the claim, stating in her statement that she is married and has two children.
Dönmez was then taken to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan to testify at the prosecutor's office. Dönmez was charged with "being a member of a terrorist organization" by being asked about the same photo at the prosecutor's office. The Prosecutor's Office requested the arrest of Dönmez and referred her to the Criminal Judgeship of Peace. Dönmez was arrested after the judge's interrogation.
