DİYARBAKIR- Condemning the Amed-based operation in front of the Diyarbakır Courthouse, HDP Co-Chair Serhat Eren said: "This is an election operation. The judicial authorities have also participated in it. The Kurdish people will not bow down to these operations."
14 of the 134 people detained in the operation carried out in 21 cities on April 25, whose police statements were completed, were referred to Diyarbakır Courthouse within the scope of the investigation carried out by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Journalists Abdurahman Gök, Beritan Canözer, Mehmet Şah Oruç and Remzi Akkaya were arrested by the judge, while the prosecution continued.
A statement was made in front of the Diyarbakır Courthouse under the leadership of the Greens and Left Future Party (Green Left Party) Diyarbakır Provincial Organization. Many political parties, non-governmental organizations, journalists and families participated in the statement.
Speaking in the statement, HDP Co-Chair of the Law and Human Rights Commission Serhat Eren evaluated the operation as a "political genocide operation".
Underlining that the operation is related to the election, Eren said: “Judicial authorities also became partners in this operation. This party, Kurdish people are not the people who will bow to any operation against them. The detention of human rights representatives and lawyers, who will take part in the healthy and democratic elections, is an election operation. We expect our friends to be released as soon as possible. We hereby state that we are in solidarity with them."
Then the slogans “Repression cannot intimidate us” and “A free press cannot be silenced” were chanted.
The prosecution and judgeship inquiries of those who were transferred to the courthouse continue.
