The sit-in was launched on March 9, 2021 by Emine Şenyaşar, who lost her husband and two sons as a result of the attack carried out by AKP MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız's bodyguards and relatives in the Suruç province of Urfa, on June 14, 2018.
Emine Şenyaşar, who came out of their house in Pirsûs(Suruç) and came to the Urfa Courthouse, started the sit-in in front of the banner that read "Justice for the Şenyaşar family". Ferit Şenyaşar could not come to the sit-in area because he participated in the election work.

Former Mayor of Geneva Rêmy Pagani, Angélique Schmidt from the Insoumise Party of France, and journalist Rachad Armanios visited Emine Şenyaşar for the Şenyaşar family's sit-in in front of the Urfa Courthouse.
The delegation, which received information from Emine Şenyaşar about the massacre and the ongoing struggle for justice, said that they will be the voice of the Şenyaşar family in Geneva and will be in solidarity with the family.
Emine Şenyaşar also thanked the delegation for their solidarity and stated that solidarity gives them strength.
