ANKARA - The first hearing of the case brought against Diren Yurtsever, the Editor-in-Chief of the Mezopotamya Agency (MA) and 11 journalists, started at the Ankara 4th High Criminal Court.
The first hearing of the case against JINNEWS reporters Habibe Eren and Öznur Değer, MA correspondents Berivan Altan, Ceylan Şahinli, Deniz Nazlım, Emrullah Acar, Hakan Yalçın, Selman Güzelyüz, Diren Yurtsever, Editor-in-Chief of the Mezopotamya Agency (MA), and MA reporter Zemo Ağgöz, who was on trial pending trial, and Mehmet Günhan, who worked as an intern at the MA Ankara office for a while, who were detained on October 29 after being detained on October 25, 2022 as part of the investigation carried out by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, started at the Ankara 4th High Criminal Court.
The hearing was attended by 10 imprisoned journalists, journalist Hüseyin Aykol, Reporters Without Borders (RSF) Turkey Representative Erol Önderoğlu, Özgür Teach from the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), Dicle Fırat Journalists Association (DFG) Director Cuma Daş, International Press Institute (IPI), Gökhan Durmuş, Chairperson of the Journalists' Union of Turkey (TGS), DİSK Basın-İş Ankara Representative Turgut Dedeoğlu, representatives of the Contemporary Journalists Association (ÇGD) Ankara Branch and the Human Rights Association (İHD) Ankara Branch, and many people are watching.
