ISTANBUL - At least 10 people were detained in the police attack on the Saturday Mothers, who came together to inquire about the fate of their disappeared relatives in Galatasaray Square.
The Saturday Mothers came together in Galatasaray Square in the 947th week of the protest they carried out to ask about the fate of their relatives who disappeared in custody and to demand the perpetrators be tried. Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Istanbul Deputy Musa Piroğlu, Human Rights Association (İHD) Chairman Eren Keskin and Turkish Human Rights Foundation (TİHV) Istanbul Branch Representative Ümit Efe also supported the Saturday Mothers/People.
As soon as they arrived at Galatasaray Square, the group was surrounded by the police and besieged with shields. Meanwhile, journalists who followed the news were forcibly removed from the area.
Then, Hanife Yıldız, Eren Keskin, Besna Tosun, Ali Ocak, Sebla Aran, Gülseren Yoleri, Hasan Karakoç, İrfan Bilgin, Leman Yurtsever, Hünkar Hüdai Yurtsever, Nazım Dikbaş, Taylan Bekin and Ümit Efe were detained.
