DİYARBAKIR - DBP Amed Provincial Co-chair Hayrettin Altun's press statements, news about demonstrations and events were accepted as a "call for an organization" and a prison sentence of up to 15 years was demanded.
The hearing of the case brought against DBP Amed Provincial Co-Chair Hayrettin Altun, who was detained on December 23, 2020 and was detained for a certain period of time, was held as part of the investigation conducted by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Co-Chair Keskin Bayındır and 14 provincial co-chairs. While Altun and his lawyers did not attend the hearing of the case at the Diyarbakır 5th Heavy Penal Court with the allegation of "being a member of a terrorist organization", the prosecution presented its opinion on the merits to the court.
'DEMONSTRATIONS AND EVENTS WAS DISPLAYED AS 'CALL FOR A TERRORIST ORGANIZATION'
Arguing that Altun, who participated in the events organized by his party and other non-governmental organizations, participated in these actions and events "with a call for a terrorist organization", the prosecution based its claim on the press release, news about the demonstrations and events in which Altun participated. The prosecution evaluated the news about these demonstrations and events as a "call for an organization" and claimed that Altun had committed the crime of "being a member of a terrorist organization".
The prosecution demanded that Altun be sentenced to prison terms ranging from 7 years, 6 months to 15 years.
THE HEARING WAS ADJOURNED TO 12 SEPTEMBER
The court adjourned the hearing to September 12 in order for Altun and his lawyer to defend against the opinion on the merits.
