URFA - Emine Şenyaşar, who was on sit-in in front of the Urfa Courthouse, was fined 8 thousand TL for allegedly "insulting" AKP's İbrahim Halil Yıldız.
The Justice Watch carried out by the Şenyaşar family has reached 808. The sit-in was launched on March 9, 2021 by Emine Şenyaşar, who lost her husband and two sons as a result of the attack carried out by AKP MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız's bodyguards and relatives in the Suruç province of Urfa, on June 14, 2018. The second hearing of the lawsuit filed against Emine Şenyaşar, who continued her sit-in at her home in Suruç district due to her health problems, was held on the allegation of "insulting a public official" because of her words on the 518th (9 August 2022) day of the protest. Şenyaşar's lawyers Meral Halat, Ayşe Şehirban Demirel and Müslüm Saraçoğlu attended the hearing at the Urfa 5th Criminal Court of First Instance.
At the hearing, which started after the identification, the lawyers reminded the process of the sit-in initiated after the murder of the mother Şenyaşar's family and stated that the family faced obstacles and investigations many times during this process. Noting that the evidence of the investigation was not sufficient to impose a sentence, the lawyers drew attention to the decisions on freedom of thought, thought and expression in the case law of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR).
COURT SENTENCED ŞENYAŞAR TO FINE
Announcing the verdict after the defenses, the court sentenced Şenyaşar to a judicial fine of 8 thousand TL for "insulting a public official" and decided to postpone the announcement of the verdict.
