DİYARBAKIR - Amed Municipality Co-Mayor Selçuk Mızraklı, who was not released in the trial in which he was retried, said: "We did not bow down, we will not bow down."
Amed(Diyarbakır) Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Selçuk Mızraklı, who was appointed a trustee after his dismissal, was sentenced to 9 years, 4 months and 15 days in prison in the case where he was tried on the allegation of "being a member of a terrorist organization", and the sentence was quashed by the 3rd Penal Chamber of the Supreme Court. The first hearing of the case in which Mızraklı was tried again was held at Diyarbakır 9th High Criminal Court today. Mızraklı attended the hearing with the Audio and Visual Information System (SEGBİS) from Edirne Type F Closed Prison, where he was detained. Mızraklı's lawyers, Mehmet Emin Aktar, Cihan Aydın and Muhsin Bilal, were present at the hearing. Greens and Left Future Party (Green Left Party) Erzirom(Erzurum) MP Meral Danış Beştaş and many politicians attended the hearing.
THE DEFENSE OF THE MIZRAKLI
Defending against the allegations against him, Mızraklı said: "I have been in detention for about 4 years due to the statements of a slanderer. I believe that you, as a court committee, are capable of distinguishing between truth and reality, lies and truth. My presence displays a situation far beyond the legal discretion of your court. This situation cannot be explained by law. This is a case of conspiracy."
'WE DID NOT BOW DOWN, WE WILL NOT BOW DOWN'
Drawing attention to the way the Kurdish leaders were executed and their "unyielding" attitude, Mızraklı said: "This is where we draw our resistance. We have never bowed down and we will never bow down."
'POLITICAL CASE'
Stating that the court committee would not try to persuade him about the case, Mızraklı's lawyer Muhsin Bilal said: "The real authority is behind this case so this case is the political authority. This is a political case, a case that is not legally based in your court. I am not saying that you are making your decisions with the indoctrination of the political authority, you are making these decisions because you share the minds of those who carry out this case."
