Hundreds of lawyers in the Middle East and Europe, especially the lawyers of Asrın Law Office, who are the advocates of Abdullah Öcalan against the state of absolute lack of communication, and the lawyers who are members of the Lawyers Association for Freedom (ÖHD), made a statement to the Ministry of Justice to end the isolation and to meet with Abdullah Öcalan. applications are left unanswered.

  'ISOLATION IS A VIOLATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS'

 

Underlining that the isolation is a violation of human rights, Çelik said: "Not allowing Abdullah Öcalan and other detainees to meet with their families and lawyers is an unlawful practice. In addition to the heavy isolation practices of 24 years, the state of not being heard for 27 months cannot be explained by law at the current stage."

 

'CPT IS NOT CONSISTENT'

 

Emphasizing that heavy isolation was imposed so that PKK Leader Öcalan would not play his historical role, Çelik said: “Öcalan's lawyers have applied to the Istanbul Bar Association along with us. Unfortunately, neither the bar association, the ministry nor the Bursa Public Prosecutor's Office gave a positive or negative response to our request. We also requested a meeting with the call method, but no appointment was made regarding this. International legal institutions are also silent. In particular, we do not think that the CPT (European Committee for the Prevention of Torture) is consistent regarding the isolation situation, it does not react. Necessary steps are not taken to address this isolation and isolation that has become a policy. Now this is a situation that needs to be explained with politics. The political will wants to separate Mr. Öcalan from the world and the peoples.”

 

'ÖCALAN SHOULD BE COMMUNICATED'

 

Stating that the silence caused the isolation to spread to all prisons and society, Çelik said: “Öcalan is an important actor regarding social peace and social solution because his word is respected and his words have a response in the public; therefore, the complete elimination of such an important person harms everyone. If a solution is to be found today, channels of communication with Öcalan should be opened.”
