Call for justice for Nudem Durak from the world's most famous person

ISTANBUL - Director, writers and musicians from around the world demanded that the imprisoned Kurdish musician Nudem Durak be released.
 
Kurdish musician Nudem Durak, who is in Bayburt Type M Closed Prison, was arrested in 2015 based on the expressions in the Kurdish songs she sang and sentenced to 19 years in prison in two separate files opened against her on the charge of "being a member of a terrorist organization". For Durak, who is a vocalist in the band Koma Sorxwin, directors, writers and musicians around the world called and demanded her release.
 
Names, including directors, writers and musicians, signed a text called by Aslı Erdoğan, Pınar Selek and Ece Temelkuran from Turkey, demanding the release of Nudem Durak.
 
'DURAK SHOULD NOT BE HELD IN PRISON'
 
In the call text, it was stated that Nudem Durak was not a member of any terrorist organization, and that if the prescribed sentence was executed, Nudem Durak would only be released in 2034 and that she received this sentence because of her ideas, emphasizing her musician identity. On the other hand, it was reminded that Nudem Durak was arrested based on the statements of witnesses and said: "Nudem Durak should not be held in prison until 2034."
