URFA- Mazlum Celik, who was kidnapped by people who introduced themselves as police officers with a sack over his head and tortured for 11 hours, said: "I was threatened with death by digging a grave and they told me that we would dress two policemen in guerilla outfits and have their photos taken with them".

24-year-old Mazlum Celik, who did not accept the imposition of spying by the police in Riha(Urfa), was tortured for 11 hours in a cave where he was taken after he was kidnapped with a sack on his head. Çelik, father of three children, who sells electronic products in Kapaklı Passage in Haliliye district, was kidnapped on July 14 by people who introduced themselves as "TEM police" with a sack over his head. Çelik, who was subjected to torture in an unknown cave and threatened with death by digging his grave, received a General Forensic Examination Report (battery report) from Mehmet Akif Inan Training and Research Hospital after the torture.

The report of the assault given by the doctor included the following findings: “Three scratches on the right side of the neck. Bruise in the middle of the back. Bruise on left shoulder. Scratches, redness on both right and left wrists. Bruising and swelling in the anterior middle part of both lower legs on the right and left, bruising on the anterior part of the left upper leg. Three stick marks at the junction of the right gluteal region with the leg. There is more than half a bruise inward in both gluteal regions.”

THEY CALLED FROM TEM: YOU WILL WORK FOR US!

Çelik, who was subjected to torture, told the Mesopotamia Agency (MA) about his experiences. Stating that he was called to testify a week ago from the Urfa Police Department TEM Branch on the grounds that there was a complaint against him, Çelik said: "I went to give a statement on the same day and came out. They took my number there and said 'we will call you'. Two days passed and a number called, they said that I will work with them from now on. I did not accept it and I reacted."

ELECTRIC TORTURE IN THE CAVE

Noting that he was abducted by 3 people who got out of a vehicle approaching him on Maşuk-Ataşehir Street in Karaköprü district at noon on July 14, with a sack over his head, Çelik described his experiences as follows: “He forced me into the vehicle. They took me to a cave I don't know where. First, two people spoke to me in Kurdish and asked if I had any connection with the 'a terrorist organisation'. I said it wasn't either. Every time I said no, they started hitting more. They tortured me with electricity. They dug a grave inside the cave and said that if I didn't work with them, they would put me in that grave. Those who said this said that if they bury me, no one would even find my body, the judge prosecutor said that everyone was dependent on them and that they were the state. Their numbers were huge. They started hitting me with hoses. After handcuffing my hand at intervals, they continued to give electricity. They called one of them 'president'. The person they called that president was saying 'don't make him talk hard'. The person they call the president said, 'We'll leave a note next to you after I smack you in the head. We will write that this will be the end of the traitors," he said. He even said, 'We'll dress two policemen in guerilla outfits and have their photos taken with them'. They said that it was easy to tell the public that the organization killed me, and that they could make any kind of fiction. Whatever they asked, I didn't make a sound. They detained me around 12:00 at noon and the torture continued until 23:00 at night. They left me overnight and said that if I complained, they would take me again and shoot a bullet in my head. They told me to rest for a week and we will see you again.”

"TURKISH STATE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE TORTURE"

Çelik's father, Cengiz Celik (52) who is engaged in agriculture in the rural neighborhood of Mircan in Karaköprü, stated that they would file a complaint and said: "Two days ago, my daughter-in-law called me at night and said that my son had been beaten. I came to Riha at the same time. Yesterday we went to the hospital together and got a report of assault. We went to the Martyrdom Police Station and they did not help. They said they couldn't deal with TEM, it was beyond themselves. We went to the Karaköprü Police Station and got the same answer. If something happens to my son, the Turkish state is responsible for the torture, the Governor of Urfa. We will apply wherever necessary. We will go to court. We will file a complaint. We will do whatever we can, and we will not give up.”

Çelik, who was subjected to torture, applied to the Riha(Urfa) branches of the Human Rights Association (İHD) and the Lawyers' Association for Freedom (ÖHD) and requested legal support. Çelik will also go to the Urfa Courthouse today and file a criminal complaint against the people in question.
