KONYA - Dedeoğulları family, who were killed as a result of a racist attack in Konya, was commemorated at their graves in the second year of the massacre. Green Left Party MP Ali Bozan said the massacre was the result of Kurdish denial.
7 members of the Dedeoğulları family, who lost their lives in a racist attack in the Meram district of Konya on July 30, 2021, were commemorated at their graves in the second year of the massacre. Çetin Dedeoğulları, the only surviving member of the family, family members, Greens and Left Future Party (Green Left Party) Konya Provincial Organization and MPs, lawyers from the Lawyers' Association for Freedom (ÖHD) and many citizens attended the commemoration.
After the commemoration at the cemetery, a statement was made in front of the house of the Dedeoğulları family, where the massacre took place.
JUSTICE HAS NOT BEEN GRANTED FOR TWO YEARS
Lawyer Abdurahman Karabulut stated that although two years have passed since the massacre, justice has not been provided, and that those who carried out the massacre are protected by the judiciary. Reminding that the assailants describe themselves as nationalists in their statements, Karabulut reminded the attackers' words: "We are nationalists, we will not let Kurds live here."
THE RESULT OF THE POLICIES OF DENIAL
Stating that the existence of the Kurds has been denied for a century, Green Left Party Mersin Deputy Ali Bozan said: “We are living in a time when it is very difficult to have a say. Two years ago, the Dedeoğulları family was murdered in this house. Before we came here, we were in the cemetery and there were 7 cold graves there. They had a lot in common. A family sharing the same bread, table and house. At the same time, another common point was that they were Kurds. This is why they were killed. Kurds have been killed for years. The reason for the massacre of the Kurds is the policy of denial that has been going on in this geography for a century.”
