TURKISH AWARD GIVEN TO MA'S IMPRISONED EDITOR GÖK

Turkish News Jury consisting of Faruk Doğruci, Ali Duran Topuz, Banu Güven, Candan Yıldız, Nezahat Doğan, Mehmet Ali Çelebi; He gave the first prize to Abdurrahman Gök, the detained editor of Mezopotamya Agency, who went to Rojhilat and Iran, for his news story "I'm in Rojhilat and Iran: A new Iranian hope", which spread "Jin jiyan azadi" to the world.

JURY: ABDURRAHMAN GÖK MADE A DIFFERENCE

Turkish News Jury made the following evaluation about the awards: “It is pleasing that promising studies are being carried out and that there is quality news and good news. Almost all of the work of the journalists who applied for the award was above a certain level of journalism. However, we had to choose a few out of 32 news, almost all of which were good. The news from the field, based on research from many branches, took precedence over other good news. The uprising in Iran, where women and young people came to the fore and Persian, Kurdish, Baloch and Arab people participated in the uprising, affected the people in many countries. All eyes were on Iran in the uprising that started after the murder of Jîna Mahsa Emînî in custody because her hair was visible. Abdurrahman Gök's article series was a perfect journalistic work to understand the qualitative and quantitative aspects of the uprising in Iran, which attracted the close attention of the global public, and the dimensions and features of the political and social crisis. While even going to Iran in a tense environment was an act of courage, the fact that he did an almost complete and distinctive job in understanding what was happening by interviewing many people for a long time and under serious danger made Abdurrahman Gök stand out in the award. Abdurrahman Gök is a journalist who is still detained. The biggest reason for his arrest is his journalistic activities. They are trying to punish Kemal Kurkut for photographing the moment he was killed by the police, and they want to make him pay the price. His visit to Iran to watch the Jîna Mahsa Emînî uprising also showed that he had significant professional excitement and reflexes. The journalistic product he produced by talking to the families of some of the murdered young people was based on an extremely sincere narrative, successful fiction and detailed observations. It is pleasing that the award went unanimously to Abdurrahman Gök for his work on the demonstrations in Iran, which is a closed box.
