Iraqi Army forces ambushed a vehicle carrying members of Shengal Resistance Units (Yekîneyên Berxwedana Şengalê-YBŞ) in Yermuk neighbourhood of Shengal city centre last night. It is learned that 3 YBŞ members were wounded in the attack, one of them seriously.
Citizens who gathered to condemn the attack and wanted to march were prevented at the Iraqi army checkpoint on Shengal-Chilmeran road. After the attack, Iraqi army deployed a large number of military forces to the center of Shengal. The tension and state of emergency in the region continues.
Today, the Shengal Autonomous Administration wanted to pass from Serdesht on the slopes of the Shengal Mountain to the city center of Shengal in a convoy with all its institutions against the provocation attempts of the Iraqi forces. However, the convoy was prevented at the Iraqi army checkpoint called "Amûd" between Chilmeran and Shengal. The youth and people of Shengal responded to the army's provocation attempt with the slogans 'Bijî Berxwedana YBŞ'ê (Long live resistance of YBŞ)'.
It is stated that the tension in the region continues.
