AMED - Mothers who lost their relatives during the conflict emphasised the need for unity among Kurds.

The Association for Solidarity, Solidarity, Unity and Culture with the Families Who Lost Their Relatives in the Cradle of Civilisations (MEBYA-DER) held its 4th Ordinary Congress in Amed (Diyarbakır) yesterday. One of the main agendas of the congress was the process regarding the solution of the Kurdish issue.

Fatma Yalçın pointed out that Turkey continued its attacks and stated that despite Abdullah Öcalan's call and the PKK's decision to dissolve, no concrete step was taken by the state.

"We want our Serok (Leader-Abdullah Öcalan) to be free, we want the war to end and peace to come," said Fatma Yalçın, emphasising that the Kurdish people are in a stronger position and that the Kurdish people should ensure their unity.

'LET THE STATE TAKE A STEP'

Rabia Ataş said: "If the state had fulfilled its responsibility, peace would have been achieved by now." Stating that the isolation on Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and prisoners in prisons still continues, Rabia Ataş emphasised that her daughter Şivekar Ataş is still being held in prison despite being ill and called on everyone for a solution.

Asking the state to keep its promises, Rabia Ataş said: "Let them lift the isolation on Abdullah Öcalan and in prisons, let Abdullah Öcalan be free so that we can live free like everyone else. Enough is enough now. This time it will either be solved completely or it will be completely broken. The Kurdish people are ready for both the solution and the breakdown of this issue."

'LET THE KURDISH PEOPLE ENSURE THEIR UNITY'

Lahiye Arşimed demanded that there should be no more deaths, peace and brotherhood. "Let the Kurdish People's Leader be released. The doors of all prisons should be opened. The brotherhood of Turks and Kurds should be ensured. We always want peace and brotherhood. The state should take steps for peace as soon as possible," she said.

Lahiye Arşimed stated that it is important to ensure Kurdish national unity and said, "Let's say 'Enough is enough' together."

Meryem Aslan said: "Let the Kurdish people unite, and those who do not want this should leave us. Peace is difficult for us, but let peace come now."
