ANKARA – People’s Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party spokesperson Aysegul Dogan announced that they will be in Sulaymaniyah on 11 July to attend the PKK ceremony. She emphasised that all political parties must take responsibility in the process.
At her party’s headquarters Aysegul Dogan said that Turkey is at a historic threshold: “We are candidates for writing this history. We not just witnesses in this process. This process also carries very vital responsibilities. Because we are talking about human life. This week, we saw once again that the issue we are talking about is very valuable. We are moving towards a more important stage in achieving non-conflict, war and the possibility of ending the war. The world is also following with interest. This means that Turkey's Kurdish issue and Turkey's democracy problem are not just Turkey's problems. "
Stating that they are at a historic moment that will determine Turkey's second century she said: "For years, we have said that the address for a democratic solution, peace, equal, fair, honourable and lasting peace is Imrali, Mr. Öcalan. Today, this should be seen once again. That is our hope."
Aysegul Dogan pointed out that Abdullah Öcalan wants weapons to be completely taken out of circulation, saying, "The struggle and effort for this has been going on for decades. Although his voice has not resonated as much as it could due to the circumstances, I would like to remind you that the point we have reached today is the result of decades of effort, labour, and struggle.”
Aysegul Dogan emphasised the need to expand the democratic political arena and stressed that the guarantee of this process is “the law”. She said: "The law is our common guarantee and need. Therefore, the law and guarantees related to the law must be implemented as soon as possible without any political calculations. This is to reveal a truth, to reveal a need. For this, all political parties, whether they are in Parliament or not, whether they have a group or not, must take responsibility."
“WE WILL BE IN SULAYMANIYAH ON 11 JULY”
Aysegul Dogan stated that they will participate in the PKK ceremony to be held in Sulaymaniyah on 11 July. She said that the co-chairs and representatives of the component parties will also attend the ceremony.
She emphasised that all segments must act with the same sensitivity for the resolution of the Kurdish issue.
