SÊRT - Abdullah Aksu was released from Izmir No. 3 T-Type Closed Prison after 31 years of imprisonment. He was welcomed by a large crowd in his hometown of Sêrt (Siirt).
In addition to his family, many people attended the welcome ceremony held at Kezer Rivulet, located at the entrance to the city. Aksu, who was welcomed with great enthusiasm, then went to his home in Alan Mahallesi, which is connected to the centre of Sêrt.
"We hope that Mr. Abdullah Öcalan, along with all political prisoners, will be freed as soon as possible. They turned the prisons into areas of resistance." he said.
Referring to the video message given today by Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan, Aksu said he is very happy. "On these principles, we commemorate Leader Apo and our comrades who were martyred in resistance in Amed Prison. We will uphold the legacy they left behind."
WHO IS ABDULLAH AKSU?
Aksu was arrested in Sêrt in 1994 and sentenced to life imprisonment by the Diyarbakır State Security Court (DGM). Aksu was held in prisons in Sêrt, Dîlok (Antep), Amed (Diyarbakır) and Şakran, respectively.
