Police operation against lawyers: 12 under custody

DİYARBAKIR/ URFA - Twelve people, including 9 lawyers, were detained in the Urfa-based police operation.

Police raided the houses and offices of many politicians and lawyers in Urfa and Diyarbakır this morning.
 
Police raided the homes and offices of 4 lawyers in Diyarbakır and detained 2 lawyers.
 
Following the raids in Urfa, HDP council member lawyer Metin Özbadem, HDP former provincial co-mayor, lawyer Sevda Çelik Özbingol, HDP former executive Sedat Çelik, HDP Siverek Municipal Council member Ibrahim Ayyıldız, Radio Karacadağ employee Salih Erbekler and lawyers Cemo Tuysuz, Emin Baran, Huseyin Izol, Şeyhmus Inal and Hidayet Enmek were taken into custody.
 
It was stated that lawyers and politicians were detained on charges of "aiding an illegal organization".
 
The number of detentions may increase.
