URFA - Stating that not being able to hear from PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan increased the concerns, DBP Urfa Provincial Co-Chair attorney Hidayet Enmek said: "The address of the solution is in İmralı, which the Kurdish people show as the address."
PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who has been held under heavy isolation conditions for 23 years in İmralı Type F High Security Closed Prison, has not been heard from since his interrupted phone call with his brother Mehmet Öcalan on March 25, 2021. While applications for visit made by the guardian, lawyer and family are blocked, "disciplinary penalties" are cited as the reason for the blocking in the notifications made months later. Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Riha Provincial Co-Chair lawyer Hidayet Enmek evaluated the ongoing isolation and its repercussions despite the condemnation.
SOLUTION: NEGOTIATION WITH ABDULLAH ÖCALAN
Drawing attention to the ongoing conflicts, Enmek said: "The clashes also continue in the Federated Kurdistan Region. The Kurdish gains were aimed with the war policies, however, this is the point that deepens the Kurdish problem and brings unrest in the society. We know well that the solution point for this is the resumption of negotiations with Abdullah Öcalan, which the Kurds see as the will. The isolation was aggravated instead of a solution. Mr. Abdullah Öcalan's family and his lawyers have been prevented from having physical and telephone conversations for a long time. This situation has evolved to a worrying point."
