BATMAN - The Êzidî families who recovered their lands seized by the entrusted people in Batman were attacked. 2 people were injured in the attack.
In the 90s, many Yazidi families fled from the Batman region due to repression, war and massacres by the counter-guerrilla. Some of these families from the village Kuşçukuru (Kelhok) near the district of Beşiri (Qubîn) fled to Europe while their land was entrusted to the leaders of the Karabulut and Biter clans.
Unable to get back their land from the mentioned tribes despite the previously made agreements, the Yazidis had to take legal action to be able to return home. After eight years of struggle and trials, the land was transferred back to them and the families finally returned to their home.
With their return the threats and assaults against the Yazidis began. In particular, members of the Karabulut and Biter family have attacked the Yazidis several times. Due to the continued attacks and threats, the Yazidis were unable to resettle on their land and were forced to live in a hotel in the city. But even there they are obviously not safe. Today, two Yazidis were attacked by a group of six with sticks when they left the hotel. While both were injured and hospitalized, six of the attackers were taken into custody.
